Skin Analysis

SAMPLE
Carrying out an analysis of your client's skin is essential before carrying out a make-up treatment. There are four main skin types: normal, dry, oily, combination
Normal Skin
Normal skin is often referred to as balanced, because it is neither too oily nor too dry. Because when young this skin type seldom has any problems, such as blemishes, it is often neglected. Neglect causes the skin to become dry, especially around the eyes, cheeks and neck, where the skin is thinner.
A normal skin type in adults is very rare. It has these characteristics:
- The pore size is small or medium
- The moisture content is good
- The skin texture is even, neither too thick nor too thin
- The colour is healthy (because of good blood circulation)
- The skin elasticity is good when young
- The skin feels firm to the touch
- The skin pigmentation is even-coloured
- The skin is usually free from blemishes.
Dry Skin
Dry skin is lacking in sebum, leaving the skin dry to touch with a tendency to be flaky. Most skins tend to dry out with age.
A dry skin has these characteristics:
- The pores are small and tight
- The moisture content is poor
- The skin texture is coarse and thin, with patches of visibly flaking skin
- There is a tendency towards sensitivity
- Premature ageing is common, resulting in the appearance of wrinkles, seen especially around the eyes, mouth and neck
- Skin pigmentation may be uneven, and disorders such as ephelides (freckles) usually accompany this skin type
- Milia are often found around the cheek and eye area.
